Hello everyone,

This is one of the first Whitman soft cover books I have purchased, as i mainly look for hardcover books. Just me being picky, lol.

This books gives very detailed history of the time both of these coins were in circulation. This is to the extreme, and any history buff would be thrilled. In this section alone there are many pictures showing different signs stating what goods or services only cost 5 cents.

There is also a nice history on Thomas Ava Edison and his developing of his phonograph. if you would like to know more about phonographs, records and anything else phonograph related please speak with Mercury or look at his website on phonographs. This is just one of many great devices that are mentioned that used the nickel.

There is also a very nice section on both the designers of each coin. James B. Longacre, the Shield Nickel, and Charles E. Barber, the Liberty head or "V" nickel.

Additionally while giving the usual annual break down there is a lot of historical information concerning designers, mint directors, and other important people of the day.

This being my first soft cover book by Whitman Publishing, I do not think it will be my last as I am very impressed, though still slightly disappointed it is not in hardcover.

Regards,
Stan
